GFWC Pennsylvania
Education Department
The GFWC Pennsylvania Education Department raises support for libraries
and
cultivates awareness of learning support for students of all ages. Many
clubs
offer scholarships to sophomore students in the Hugh O'Brien and Western
Youth
leadership programs. Some clubs offer scholarships to graduating seniors.
The 2004-2006 GFWC International President's
Project, Tutoring From The Heart
aims to educate members and others about adult, family and youth literacy.
The
goal is to train 7,500 new literacy tutors and tutor 10,000 students during
the
two-year period. This program is made possible through a grant from the
Proctor & Gamble Company.
