WHO WE ARE
The General Federation of Women's Clubs, founded in 1890, has been a unifying force bringing together local
women's clubs around the country and as well as throughout the world. GFWC's clubwomen are diversified
in age, interest, and experience but all are united by a dedication to community improvement through
volunteer service. First century accomplishments include: establishing 75 percent of the country's public
libraries, developing kindergartens in the public schools, and working for food and drug regulation.
During its second century, the Federation has pledged to maintain its commitment to working for a better
world. With "Unity in Diversity" as its motto and a strong umbrella of programs that clubs may adapt to suit
the needs of their communities, GFWC encourages the flexibility that has enabled it to expand its reach in
a rapidly changing society.

The Goal is for GFWC Pennsylvania is to be an integral organization working actively to assure teens exiting the foster care system

“Our Children Hold Our Future” Goals:

  • To educate and engage communities in a statewide project.
  • To volunteer in the local & regional CYS and private agencies serving teens in the foster care system.
  • To raise funds in communities for use for the transition of these teens.
  • To educate federated club women on the need to assure success for these teens transitioning to adulthood.
